Hi to all the 5th graders!
I taught many of you in 2nd grade, and am anxious to see you all again.
This week our class is focusing on Chapter 3 (The Church Celebrates Seven Sacraments). Please read pages 35 - 39, and complete the review on page 40.
Jesus gave us 7 Sacraments (signs of Jesus’ love for us). The sacraments are very important celebrations in the Church. We want to receive the sacraments (you have already received 3 of them!) as often as possible, as they unite us with Jesus and we receive sanctifying grace (gift of sharing in God’s life) when we receive a sacrament.
Sacraments of Christian Initiation (becoming members of The Church)
Baptism
Confirmation
The Eucharist
Those who receive a Sacrament of Christian Initiation share a common vocation (to become holy and share our love and knowledge of God with others). Holiness is sharing in God’s goodness and living as God would like us to.
Sacraments of Healing
Reconciliation
Anointing of the Sick
Sacraments of Service to others
Holy Orders
Matrimony
I have attached 2 fun worksheets for you (do you remember I love word finds???). Also, if you have time, draw me a picture of a person receiving a sacrament – I will share them with everybody.
October is the month of the Rosary (remember receiving a rosary in 2nd grade??)….perhaps your family will help you pray The Rosary this month??
Next week we will work on Chapter 4 (Baptism)
Parents – please send the completed chapter to my email address. If you have any questions, or suggestions please email or phone me.
Monsignor Desmond is thinking of you and reminds you to pray every day and attend Mass, if you feel safe.
Stay well,
Mrs. (Liz) Wiands
